A clean and safe community, dedicated to helping others improve the world around themselves.
The Third Tradition is a sober living facility in Bakersfield, CA focused on helping individuals take back control of their lives and give back to their community. Our end goal is to have someone finish our program with the skills and knowledge to not only improve their lives, but the lives around them. We focus on rebuilding the core values of an individual and start with the basics. By getting back to the basics we are able to help people build a new and solid foundation not only supported by their core values, but also by the people in their community.
The Third Tradition is led by Marc Smith, an accomplished mentor, who is motivated by the success of the individuals he mentors. He wants nothing more than for everyone to succeed in getting back onto their feet and is able to accomplish this by building a safe and clean environment that fosters a communion of friends who turn into family.
The Third Tradition is striving to fixed old world problems with new age thinking. If you're looking to join our community and family feel free to reach out to us.

Back to the Basics
Promoting "you" time. This is changing the mindset from looking at the glass as half empty to half full. We want you to focus on developing skills and a sense of constant improvement in your everyday life. Only YOU have the background and history that got you to this very moment, and that's what makes you an individual, embrace it.
Living together in a positive and safe environment that encourages constant self improvement. This is what the definition of family should be and that is what we want to build in our community. The connections around us are what help define us.
Once we have focused our efforts on improving our own lives we can look to our family to help build our foundation. After that we must build a community around us, through outreach programs and volunteer work, we strive to improve the lives of those less fortunate around us.
Take the Step.
